On July 14, 2012, a friend and I joined the Joyce Walks Chicago tour of the Mansions of Kenwood. Our leader was Paula who is clearly passionate about Chicago and knowledgeable about the Kenwood area. We particularly appreciated the lively way she recounted stories and anecdotes about the properties and the people who had or do live in them. This was not just a recitation of dates, facts and figures. Perhaps our most glowing testament came when the skies opened and we got thoroughly wet (even those with umbrellas!) Paula then asked what we wished to do and the group elected to continue the tour rather than scurry back to our cars. We didn’t want to miss anything on this thoroughly enjoyable and informative walk!

My husband and I took the loop art tour today. Our guide was not only informative but added a personal touch by her extensive knowledge of the buildings and history.
Having lived in NW Indiana 20 years, Chicago is a frequent destination for us.
We learned more today than we had in the last 20 years. Thank you for giving us a new appreciation for Chicago. We will highly recommend your tours and look forward to our next tour.

My boyfriend and I visit downtown Chicago often. We love the city and enjoy learning about different parts of it and are always looking for fun and exciting things to do. My boyfriend purchased tour tickets for us- and just recently we spent a Saturday with Joyce Walks Chicago. We went on the Lincoln Park tour in the morning and the Old Town tour in the afternoon. We had a wonderful time and it was very informative and entertaining for us. We were able to experience parts of Chicago that we have never seen before and learn more information about the parts that we did know about. She gave us history and insight that the majority of Chicagoan’s are not aware of. There are many wonderful activities and ways to experience the city of Chicago, and we highly, without a doubt or an ounce of hesitation, recommend Joyce Walks Chicago. We look forward to future walks with Joyce, learning more about the city.

We were in Chicago for too brief a visit and we were thrilled that Joyce Walks was able accommodate our limited schedule with a private tour. Emma was our host for the Mag Mile tour (I think it was more than a mile). She was very congenial and informative. Our tour took us through the Gold Coast Area as well as Michigan Avenue. She was patient with our numerous questions and never tried to rush us. I think that the facts of the tour were well-researched and she added all sorts of ‘back stories’ to enhance our knowledge. I would recommend Joyce Walks to anyone.

Well Joyce we are back home in Canada and had a wonderful friendly and informative walk with Emma. It felt more like a walk with a long time friend then a booked tour. My father asked me if I knew her from before! We were lucky that all 4 days we stayed in Chicago were the perfect fall days. Wonderful weather, great people, food and sites. We will definitely be back I will put you on the list of things to not miss in Chicago on all the travel sites I am on. hanks again.
My company from switzerland had a wonderfull time. They saw places I would have not gone too. The weather wasn’t perfect, but seeing so much from the city they have heard of so much was great. They really liked the architecture of the buildings and were amazed by the expensive shops. It was a great experiance for them especially since I could’t take them around the city. This was a great way for them to see more.

Joyce is a very knowledgeable tour guide. Went with a few friends on the Maxwell Street tour. It was most enjoyable. As a native Chicagoan, I still learned much. We toured the new Maxwell Street, the Fire Academy, the remains of the old Maxwell Street and the Hull House. oyce is very outgoing and made everyone most comfortable. A relaxing, informative tour that you will enjoy.

Joe and I had a wonderful time on Friday with Emma as our personal tour guide. When you walk you really get a different perception of the city! The cold coast homes and the Viagra triangle was my favorite that café was so cute!

Thank you again for yesterday’s tour. I found it to be extremely interesting and educational, without being “classroomy”. Your thorough knowledge of the subject matter is evident, and your descriptions helped me to visualize the Maxwell Street market as well as that area of the city as it really was.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the walking tour of Maxwell Street yesterday (8/28). I learned alot and felt like I was going on a tour with an old friend. I definitely want to do another tour when I’m back in Chicago.

If you really want the “Windy City’s” history with a true Chicagoan’s twist, then you want to take the Joyce Walks Chicago Tour. Our convention group learned more “inside
info” and got to see parts of the city other tours bypass. For a group of educators, we got an exciting lesson with the opportunity to ask questions and take lots of pictures. Experiencing Chicago from the ground up was the highlight of our trip!

I took a group of high-school students for a walking tour of Pilsen and the National Museum of Mexican Art. We were all delighted with Joyce and her wealth of knowledge about Chicago and its history. Joyce made our field trip fun, interactive and exciting! She was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely professional. I can’t think of a better way to take a tour of our city than with Joyce leading it.

When I decided to visit Chicago, I accidently found a website where I could get a local guide to show me the city. I didn’t know what to expect…and that was how I met Joyce. Before we met, we sent a few emails to each other to determine where we would explore. It was the happiest time I had in Chicago. We walked together, talked together and after two hours, she invited me to take another walk to explore another part of the city. She is so much fun and knows so much about the city. The next time we met, it was not just Joyce my guide, but Joyce my friend. She is everybody’s friend and will show you around so you’ll see exactly what you want to see. And if you want to go for a yummy cheap meal, she knows exactly where the place to go. If I ever go back to Chicago, I’ll take Joyce as my tour guide, and as my friend!

If you are thinking about visiting Chicago and don’t know where to go or what to do, Joyce Walks Chicago will have a tour to suit your needs. We were visiting Chicago in 2007 and took a tour with Joyce. We found her to be a passionate person who loves Chicago and everything about it. What an experience we had seeing Chicago through the eyes of one who lives there. She did not only make it an exciting and memorable day for our family, but also very informative telling us the history of Chicago and stories about the places we visited. We liked our time in Chicago so much that we returned there in 2011 and walked with Joyce again! Thanks Joyce for making our time in Chicago so memorable.

It was our first time in Chicago so we didn’t know what to expect. Joyce was extremely instrumental in helping us see the real Chicago and all the history behind it. The day spent with her was the highlight of our trip and was one of the main reasons we fell in love with Chicago. She helped us navigate the “EL,” took us to all the locations we were interested in, and gave us an in-depth history of each area. Our walking tour with her was fun and informative. She recommended great restaurants and other places we could tour on our own. It was such a wonderful experience that I will recommend her services to all my friends that are planning a trip to Chicago. We met as strangers but parted as friends.
